Memories Never Cease To Be

"Today I can forget the past,
And sit on the edge of present, Dangling my feet in the eternal void of the future."
Today I can forget about the ridiculed dreams,
And be ridiculously casual.
I can take a moment at a time,
And thank you if you even made one of them worthwhile.
But who knows what horrendous stories
Lurk beyond the cocoon of the present.
I have borne the burden of my self history,
And I will bear the suspense of the future.
The glass is no longer half filled or empty for me,
I have crushed the tumbler,
And seen a part of me in each broken piece.
For I have seen construction, and deconstruction
And I have accepted the mundane cycle.
Objects created, and objects destroyed
And histories that mock your existence in between.
Of hopeless light, and darkness pregnant with expectations:
Life is an oxymoron;
The word, as hopeful, as hopeless the meaning it beholds.
Tonight I take life with a pinch of salt,
Pardoning it for its silly mistakes,
For its stereotyped ideas
For its injustice,
For its malevolence.
For its racism,
For its wrong choices, and its wrong timings.
I have washed my clothes, done my dishes,
I have seen the dirt go down the drain.
Day after day, year after year, and tear after tear,
I have created dirt and washed myself clean of it.
I have seen darkness impregnated with hope,
And I have seen the light kill it every time.

Of eternity, and uncertainty.
My past settles in ashes tonight,
And so will my future someday.
The present is all I have
That could make a difference...
In stories that were created,
And in tales that tomorrow would spin,
I want every page to talk of the life,
The life which nor you or I, but we lived.

CHANCE AND CO-INCIDENCE

Sometimes, its ok, just ok to let go. Sometimes, we know, somethings do not belong to us. But sometimes, letting go off something becomes the toughest. When fate lets us down over and over again, a flimsy voice called hope whispers in our ears, “Lets try once more, just one last time”. They say, there is need, want, and desire. But, how can we control? With time, desire becomes want, and want becomes need; and then we spend the rest of our life, chasing that desire, oops! Sorry, that need. It is life you know, just like the stock market. You sure can predict, but you cannot assure, you cannot insure. Everyday, we take numerous chances, knowingly or unknowingly.

We read a bit more of the morning newspaper, taking a chance that if we walk at a faster pace than other days, we would still manage to get on to the 9:50am Metro. But what if we miss? So what? The 10:00am metro is still there. We’ll walk a bit faster from the station to the office. Sure we’ll make it on time. What if we do not? So what… boss might not be on time today! What if he is? So what… he might be in a good mood today! What if he isn’t? Well, in that case, I’ll plug my ears while he barks. Simple! There’s always a solution. Doesn’t mean I should leave the article on my star attraction’s next movie half read.

That is life. Dance while you have the chance. Who knows, tomorrow, you may lose your legs in an accident. Or better still, tomorrow you may not have good music playing. What if you can’t dance well? Well, who cares… its your life, you’re dancing to enjoy, not to entertain others. You wanna go into the ocean when the temperature is running on negative? Go do it. The doctor’s always there if you fall sick. I mean, when else will you use your medical insurance. Don’t tell me you’re waiting for some deadly disease to attack you!

I don’t say I’m a philosopher; but there are things life has taught me. And there are things I’d like to share with all; if not me, my experience can help people. I have learnt that sometimes, it is very very important to take a chance; there are possibilities that you will fail, but there are those certain ‘sometimes’ when you win. We all wanna be winners, but a very few of us are ready to take chances. It is astonishing, that we expect so much from life, and leave a large amount of our lives to fate. Why not try out hope this time? There might be disappointments, but somewhere, someday, somehow, a chance might turn out to be worth risking.

How many times did you stop yourselves from taking that crazy step, for the fear of being rejected? Never? Well, I did, and did it a lot of times. Coz my ego came before my happiness. I couldn’t take no for an answer, never. But now I realize I was wrong. However, now it’s too late, a bit too late. Now is when there are no chances left. Do not rely on co-incidences. Take chances. Once you learn doing that, life will be much more adventurous, much more worth living. You wont just live; you would look forward to live. Life is a Marauders Map. You have to question to get an answer, and you have to swear you are up to no good. Sometimes being a bit bad doesn’t kill, does it? Period.

Life Is Lived In Transformation

For after long... very long
I've realized the fault
I’ve realized the truth
The fault of killing my soul
The truth that I was not myself
The simple fact that I have changed...

For after long... very long
I've felt this urge again
I've felt the drive again
The urge to live my life again
The drive to laugh at every joke
The simple fact that the heart still beats...

For after long... very long
I'm scared to admit it
I'm scared to own it
Admit that too much has been wasted
Own that I can count the years
The simple fact that life won't be forever...

I lost so much in translation
I lost so much in transgression
I lost so much in the tears I cried
I lost so much in those fake smiles
How much more can I lose from me
Until I lose something called 'me'?

Do I have the strength in me
To make someone smile again?
Do I have the guts in me
To make someone live again?
Do I have any tears left over
To cry if someone hurts again?

Yet I will laugh, and I will cry
I dare to love, I dare defy
My hopes are high, I dream again
To swim the ocean, reach for the sky
I have emotions left for every occasion
I know, LIFE IS LIVED IN TRANSFORMATION.

tete-a-tete

The heart and the mind converse,
I bear a silent witness to it.
They fight, argue, make-up, break-up, do it all…
I sit, simply tapping my feet, yet it’s not so simple.
Ever seen that grin across my face?
That’s when heart has things its way.
Ever noticed the frown across my forehead?
That’s when mind takes over.
My face, it always sides with my heart.
But the eyes, always loyal to the mind.
Whom do I side?
Probably none…
Whoever wins, I am always the loser
Why?
I trust my heart, I rely on my mind.
They go on, the two naughty brats,
Bitching about each other…
“What happened when you started thinking with your heart?”
“Oh really? What when the mind could not decide?”
Stop now, the two of you.
And strangely, as I shout at them,
They become the best of friends!!!
“Okay, we don’t say anything, happy?”
Unbelievable…
Cummon now! I thought you were mine.
Help me out.
“It’ll be fine, do whatever makes you feel good.”
“Hell, no! You need to be practical.”
And it starts all over again.
Shit.
Why didn’t I allow them to not say anything?
But how could I?
They are me, I am them.
I let them deal.
The heart and the mind come to a conclusion,
I bear a silent witness to it.

p.s. – thanks to a special someone for the thought. I merely put it in my words, rather saw it through my eyes.
